THE HAPPENING - ART, FILM AND MUSIC FESTIVAL APRIL 13, 2007 · NYC NEW YORK, NY - The worlds of art, music, film, surfing and skateboarding will converge at The Happening in New York City on April 13, 2007 in an expression of cultural savoir-faire. This two-part event will feature a select group of artists and photographers exhibiting work based in contemporary beach and street cultures followed by music performances by Mason Jennings, Matt Costa, Emily Haines (of Metric) and more. In addition, The Happening will help raise money and awareness for a group of non-profit organizations. The Happening will take place in two venues in Chelsea. The affair kicks-off at the Milk Gallery, with an art exhibition from 6-9 p.m. including music performances by Neil Halstead (of the Mojave 3) and Ray Barbee & The Mattson 2. Featured artists and photographers include Michael Halsband, Thomas Campbell, Dylan Griffin, David Carson, Andy Davis, Wolfgang Bloch, Jeff Canham, David Lloyd, Greg LaMarche, Geoff McFetridge, Julie Goldstein, Alex Kopps, Rob Ryan, Herbie Flecther, Jamie Brisick, Joe Curren and more. The evening continues with music performances by Mason Jennings, Matt Costa, Emily Haines (of Metric) and Money Mark beginning at 9 p.m. at Hiro Ballroom at the base of the Maritime Hotel, one block from Milk Gallery. Four films will be screened in conjunction with the music including 1 st & Hope, a look at the world of skating through the eyes of the Malloy brothers and Brian Lotti. In addition, there will be film shorts by the Malloys, The Gothic Dolphins, Patrick Trefz and Britt Caillouette. All-inclusive tickets are available for $35 through the event website, www.thehappeninglive.com . Ticket price includes all music performances, film screenings and entrance to the art exhibition. Complementary refreshments will be served at Milk Gallery. Admission is 21 & over only. A portion of the proceeds will benefit REGeneration Gallery, Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, National Transplant Assistance Fund and SurfAid International. The Happening is supported by Roxy, Virgin Mobile, Zune, Elwood, Jane Magazine, Bueno Books, Surfing Magazine, Vapors Magazine, Brushfire Records, Woodshed Films, The Surf Gallery and Milk Gallery.
